There was a great turnout at Wilson’s Playing Fields for the return of the Hyndburn + Ribble Valley School’s cross country competition. 12 Secondary schools took part on the challenging course which took the runners up on a hilly route which was partly through woodland. It was clear most schools had prepared well in the build up using cross country and fitness as part of Autumn’s curriculum as there was an excellent display of stamina and determination in all races.
Featuring some fiery competition between rival schools - the overall winner wasn’t decided until the final few races. Congratulations to St Christopher’s who will keep the coveted shield for the next year, as well as the individual medallists and winners in each year group and category. It was great to see local Secondary schools competing against each other again and we look forward to the Sports Hall Athletics competitions next month. Thanks to Hyndburn Athletics Club and the staff in the pavilion as well as our sports leaders who all contributed to a successful event.
