Primary Multi Sport Festival

We held a fantastic multi sport festival on Friday 26th December for our partnership Primary Schools. The event took place in the spacious Oakhill sports hall and each group went round the entire carousel of different activities. Well over 50 students attended from St Nicholas', St John's, Oakhill, Whalley, St Mary's Clayton, St Mary Magdalens, Moorend and Simonstone.

It was a great opportunity to try some new skills as students had a go at archery, kurling, seated volleyball and boccia. Accrington Stanley Community Trust were present to offer a football skills station, and there was also an athletics carousel featuring javelin, long jump and speed bounce.

Everyone was given an activity passport on which they had to collect stamps at each station to exchange for their certificate of achievement at the final presentation which was a lovely touch! A special mention must go out to Oakhill’s Sports Leaders from year 9 who were excellent role models as they assisted the primary school students in a variety of ways in each activity, offering plenty of help and advice.
